Our Cat 5 race started at 8 AM and the girls race was at 4:30 PM so we had plenty of time to spend in between.
I really am not qualified to make the call on this ride because I was suffering in the pack. I made the mistake of being on the inside on the first five laps. The brakes followed by immediate acceleration fried my legs early. Lesson learned, don't be there! Outside and near the fron was the key and Twan and Mike C made that their point!
The race started off well and the laps clicked off in rapid form. won the prime with a mad dash to the line. On lap 2 or 3 a crash occurred mid pack and only seeing Twan in front of me I took a quick look and saw red and blue tumbling behind me (our colors are red, yellow, blue). I thought at first Mike had gone down but luckily he passed me at the turn to the start/finish line.
Mike C "aka Gracity Boy" broke for the prime and won (many more winnings in the day)
The peleton stayed pretty much in a bunch until lap 7/8 when Mike C made the solo break as the peleton gave no chase.
